Vice-Mayor of the City of Asheville. This motion was seconded by Councilman Turner carried on a 6-1 vote, with Councilwoman Mosley voting “no”. Vice-Mayor Kilgore looked forward to the opportunity to work, grow, learn and collaborate with her fellow Council members in order to deliver the very best service to our community. SWEARING-IN ADDRESS Mayor Manheimer gave a brief address about how the accomplishments of a city council doesn’t happen in a vacuum, but that we work with partners across our community, including governmental, nonprofit and for-profit groups. And, we rely on our talented city staff which brings to life the policies and priorities of this council. Ultimately, however, this council is working in concert with the community we serve, each of us reflecting a constituency struggling for a voice at this dais. Let us hold onto that abiding curiosity, respect and even love as we work together as a council, as a community, to boldly address the challenges facing our city and its people.
